Sano Makes the Show

It was great learning that Miguel Sano has been promoted to the Twins. A couple of years ago, I saw a lot of him while playing for New Britain, where he smacked 19 homers in half-a-season. Added to the 16 he tallied in the Florida State League, he was on the fast track to the majors -- until suffering an elbow injury the following spring training. It cost him all of 2014.
Healthy again, he started 2015 with the Twins new AA affiliate in Chattanooga. His power returned; and was hitting in the .270s (40 points higher than at New Britain). Sano is in the right organization -- the Twins value home-grown talent and he should fit in nicely alongside such up-and-comers as Byron Buxton and Brian Dozier. Ironically, the player Sano replaced with Minnesota, Kennys Vargas is another New Britain "alum." who made big strides while playing for the Rock Cats in 2014.
