From Tears to Cheers

Roughly 48 hours after leaving the field at Citi Field in tears, after rumors spread that he'd been traded to Milwaukee, Wilmer Flores experienced the ultimate fairytale turnaround. Leading off the bottom of the 12th inning, he nailed a Felipe Rivero pitch over the left center field wall to give the Mets a 2-1 victory over the Nationals in the opener of a crucial three-game series. (He'd also driven in New York's first run of the night on a 4th inning single.) Flores remains a Met, and in the last game before newly aquired Yoenis Cespedes arrives, Flores, the man who though he was being sent away, feels the exhilleration of being the Mets hero.
Too corny to be true? OK, the Mets manager was Terry Collins, not Frank Capra... but the scene almost seemed too good to be true.
