On this Date: August 7th, 1999

Playing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Boggs becomes the 23rd member of the 3,000-hit club.  Connecting off Cleveland's Chris Haney at Tropicana Field, the future Hall of Famer makes history as the first player to reach the 3000 milestone with a home run. After circling the bases, Boggs kissed home plate.
I caught up with Boggs in January 2011 at the Pinstripe Passion autograph and collectibles show in New Jersey.
