Good Timing on #300
Reaching a career milestone is nice -- but it when it makes the difference in a game, that's special. Hats off to Curtis Granderson, who crushed the 300th home run of his career Wednesday night. Leading off the bottom of the 8th inning in a 4-4 tie, his laser down the right field line put the Mets ahead for keeps, as they went on to beat the Cubs 9-4 at Citi Field.
The Grandy Man has been hitting better after a slow start in 2017. And that milestone blast -- almost psychically predicted by TV broadcaster Gary Cohen going into the middle of the 8th commercial break -- could be the key to more playing time on a club where two-thirds of the starting outfield (Michael Conforto and Yoenis Cespedes) are at less than 100% health.
