Old Timers Day 2011

The Yankees 65th annual Old Timers Day was not only a celebration of achievement, but a delightful "class reunion" for those who've worn the pinstripes.
The majesty of the men who made these numbers famous lined up shoulder-to-shoulder is only part of this story. (I'll name them all at the end of this post.)
Look at the smiles, the hugs, the handshakes and high-fives. Reggie Jackson (above) and Jerry Coleman (below) on the reception line.
The players are among friends; then you add the love they feel from the crowd -- and return in kind. (Above) Joe Torre's first time donning his number-6 uniform since the 2007 season. (Below) Bernie Williams, taking part in his first Old Timers Day.
(Above) Reggie Jackson has a warm hug for Yogi Berra. (Below) David Wells greets his former pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre.
Everyone wanted to catch up with Yogi, who missed last year's Old Timers Day. (Above) Stottlemyre's rookie heroics helped the 1964 Yankees, managed by Berra, win a pennant.
(Below) Jerry Coleman and Yogi, mainstays of the 1950s Casey Stengel-era.
(Above) Two Yankees who tossed perfect games in pinstripes a year apart: David Wells (1998) and David Cone (1999). (Below) Tino Martinez, trainer Gene Monahan, Moose Skowron and Lou Piniella.
Below, the battery for baseball's only World Series perfect game: Yogi Berra, who caught Don Laren's masterpiece.

(Above) Whitey Ford and 1950s teammate Bobby Brown. (Below) Joe Torre and Darryl Strawberry, likely reminiscing about the 1990s dynasty.
Back at the top, our line of Yankees "by the number": Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Reggie Jackson, Goose Gossage, Jerry Coleman, Joe Torre, Moose Skowron, Don Larsen, Bobby Brown.
