Forty Years Ago Today

On June 4th, 1972, the Dodgers retired Jackie Robinson's number 42, along with those of his teammates and fellow Hall of Famers Roy Campanella (39) and Sandy Koufax (32). Although in declining health, Jackie was on hand for the ceremony that night at Dodger Stadium.
25 years later, Commissioner Bud Selig would honor Robinson's legacy by retiring 42 across the game.
