Throwback Thursday -- Shea Meets Citi
From May 2008: A couple of images of Shea Stadium co-existing with its eventual successor Citi Field. (Above) Looking from the 126th Street station on the 7 line, Shea with its blue-painted exterior and scoreboard almost appears to be in a staring match with its brick-faced replacement. (Below) from the right field loge seats, Citi hovers just beyond the outfield fence. Note the difference in scoreboard design, with the 2008 version of the original "Stadiorama" still displaying lineups and out-of-town scores much the same way as when the World's Fair was going on, on the other side of the train tracks.
