Bubblegum Champ

Not only does he pitch exceedingly well, but National ace Max Scherzer demonstrates why chewing gum in the dugout is far more entertaining (and healthier) than chewing tobacco.
Is it an optical illusion or did he really get the bubble above to appear to have two different shapes? Below, the classic round bubble.
