$100 Million Man

After three stellar seasons with the Cardinals, Albert Pujols agreed to a seven-year $100 million extension with St. Louis. The contract bought out his three arbitrations seasons plus four years beyond.

The deal worked out well for both sides, as the Cardinals got the best years of Pujols' career for what became a bargain price -- while winning a pair of World Series championships.

(My image of Albert Pujols is from a Grapefruit League game at Jupiter, Florida in 2005.)
